Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular to make an upfront spectrum payment of Rs 141.25 billion
Following the conclusion of the third round of the 2G spectrum auction, three operators including Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular are expected to make total upfront spectrum payments worth Rs 141.25 billion.
Bharti Airtel has acquired 115 MHz of spectrum in 15 circles in the 1800 MHz band and three circles in the 900 MHz bands for Rs 185.3 billion. Whereas Vodafone India has won spectrum in 11 circles in the 1,800 MHz band and won back spectrum in the 900 MHz band in the Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata circle where the operator’s licence were to expire to expire at the end of 2014. Meanwhile, Idea Cellular has acquired 5 MHz of liberalised spectrum in the 900 MHz band in the Delhi circle and acquired another 65.2 MHz spectrum in eight circles.
While Bharti Airtel will make an upfront payment of Rs 54.25 billion, Vodafone India and Idea Cellar are expected to make upfront payments of Rs 56 billion and Rs 31 billion, respectively.
